Sue Redman, a native New Yorker, is happy to have made her home in Chicago. She is a founding member of SiNNERMAN Ensemble, and a graduate of the BFA Acting program at Emerson College in the great city of Boston. She’s also a graduate of the School at Steppenwolf, where she met the rest of these Sinners. Most recently, Sue was seen in DAYS OF LATE, IVANOV AND BIBLE B-SIDES with SiNNERMAN, QUICK AND DIRTY at Apple Tree Theatre’s Orchard Series, and ELECTION DAY with Theatre Seven. Other companies she’s worked with include: The Gift Theatre, Collaboraction and The Artistic Home. Aside from acting, Sue is also a solo performer. Most notably, she wrote, produced and performed a one-woman show, Here to There, which premiered in Boston and went on to the San Francisco Fringe Festival. She can be seen in Stephen Cone’s upcoming feature films IN MEMORIAM and THE WISE KIDS (which she co-produced), as well as Steven Soderberg’s upcoming CONTAGION. Sue’s also a vegetarian and a pretty typical Pisces.
Full name: Susan Rebecca Redman.
Current project: Making one short film a month for six months with Doug Tyler and Brian Kavanaugh.
Upcoming project: Moving to LA in June!
Hometown: Garden City, N.Y.
College and city of College: Emerson College in Boston, Mass.
Favorite book: Flesh and Blood by Michael Cunningham (and Letters to a Young Poet by Rilke might as well be painted on the walls of my soul).
Scariest thing you’ve ever done: Performing my first one-woman show, Here to There. It turned out to also be one of the greatest things I’ve ever done. But that hadn’t occurred to me yet as I was twitching and dry heaving all day leading up to the first show.
What you simply could not live without: Fuzzy blankets, large bodies of water, flip flops, tea and storytelling (not necessarily all at once, though that sounds just lovely).
Acting/Life mentor or personal hero: Jay O’Berski, James McCrann, Mana, Mom and Dad.
Favorite vice: Cheese. It’s so sad. I have an allergy.
